A Hell of a Dog
Carol Lea Benjamin
NOW IN PAPERBACK! Third in the Rachel Alexander and Dash mystery series. Before Rachel Alexander became a private eye, she trained dogs. So she isn't surprised when she is invited to attend a dog training symposium. But she is surprised at the rivalry between trainers - one of whom proves to have a bite far more deadly than anyone expected.
A Pedigree to Die For
Berenson
The apparent heart attack that killed kennel owner Max Turnbull has left seven pups in mourning, and his wife Peg suspecting foul play. But the only evidence is their missing prize pooch - a pedigreed poodle named Beau. Enter Melanie Travis. With her young son happily ensconced in day camp, the thirty-something teacher and single mother is talked into investigating her uncle's death - unofficially, of course. Posing as a poodle breeder in search of the perfect stud, Melanie hounds Connecticut's elite canine comnpetitions, and finds an ally in fellow breeder Sam Driver. But her affection cools when she's put on the scent of Sam's questionable past...and hot on the trail of a poodle-hating neighbor and one elusive murderer who isn't ready to come to heel. For, as Melanie soon discovers, in a championship dog-eat-dog world, the instinct for survival, and winning, can prove fatal.
Barker Street Regulars
Susan Conant
Holly Winter's Alaskan Malamute, Rowdy, has finished his training as a therapy dog and now accompanies Holly on weekly visits to the Gateway Nursing Home, where they meet Althea and her two admirers, Hugh and Robert, who are all Sherlock Holmes fanatics. Althea's visiting grand-nephew is murdered at the home of her younger sister, Ceci, and the group, along with Holly, unites to try to solve the murder. They also find that Ceci is being victimized by an unscrupulous animal psychic. As usual, Holly is assisted by Rowdy and Kimi, her Alaskan Malamutes. There's even a feline rescue this time!
Blind Bloodhound Justice
Virginia Lanier
Fourth in this Bloodhound series, featuring Jo Beth Sidden and her Search & Rescue Bloodhounds. As part of his medical parole, convicted slayer Samuel Debbs has to report to Sheriff Hank Cribbs. Debbs says he didn't commit the crime for which he received a life sentence--a double murder during a kidnapping 30 years ago. Not willing to reopen the case but curious about the crime, Hank tempts Jo Beth to look into the case. As she balances her job as a trainer and tracker, she reads the files on the case, and visits Debbs, who shakes her conviction in his guilt. Eventually she tracks down everyone involved in the case and locates the truth. Good search and rescue background!
Bloodlines
Susan Conant
Normally Holly Winter wouldn't be caught dead in a place like Puppy Luv - a mall pet shop that's no doubt an outlet for the puppy mill industry and a hotbed of forged papers, broken promises, and mistreated animals. But a hot tip about a malamute pup suddenly has Holly charging to the rescue and panting to put the owner out of business. Trouble is, she's not the only one who has a bone to pick with Diane Sweet. In a matter of hours the Puppy Luv proprietress is gruesomely murdered. When Holly links the killing with the disappearance of another malamute - an adorable live wire named Missy - she digs up startling evidence that soon leads her into the fiercely competitive and deadly underworld of dog breeding. A place where her biggest fears are realized. And where her animal instincts are all that can save her.
Death in Bloodhound Red
Virginia Lanier
A novel/mystery about search and rescue bloodhounds! Jo Beth has realized her dream of owning a kennel, raising and training bloodhounds for search and rescue missions into the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia. She is constantly at risk from a fall, snake bite, or the pot growers who shoot first and ask questions later, and then she also has to deal with her ex-husband Bubba who is just out of prison and stalking her. Lots of action, good dog and search and rescue scenes (accurate).
Dog Eat Dog
Berenson
Third in the series of mystery stories. Our heroine Melanie Travis (accompanied by her standard poodle Faith) is delving into the inner circles of an elite Connecticut kennel club, where shocking secrets gnaw at the best of the breed and competition has a sharp and sometimes deadly bite. When one of the kennel club members turn up dead in a parking lot, Melanie starts sniffing out secrets and gets too close for comfort!
Evil Breeding
Susan Conant
Holly Winter has a contract to write the text for a book of photographs commemorating the legendary Morris and Essex Dog Shows, canine extravaganzas produced by the fabulously wealthy and famously dog-obsessed Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge in the years leading up to World War II. Needless to say, Holly is delighted with the assignment, and immediately sets out to interview one of the few remaining people who actually attended one of the shows -- B. Robert Motherway, a Princeton classmate of the Dodges' late son. It only takes one visit for Holly to realize that there is something strange going on in the Motherway household: a wife dying painfully in an upstairs bedroom, a daughter-in-law acting as a maid, a sullen son playing the role of kennel man, and -- most distressing of all -- a German shepherd that growls menacingly. Soon Holly begins to receive mysterious anonymous packages in the mail: a leaflet describing a popular dog medication, cryptic letters written in German, a couple of old photographs. Who could be sending them and what do they mean? When Motherway's disagreeable son is found garroted in Mount Auburn Cemetery, the circumstances convince Holly that she must find the answers, before she herself becomes the next victim. Holly is assisted, as usual, by her Malamutes Rowdy and Kimi.
Finding Mr. Right
Carmichael
Right before her untimely death, Lydia Keane made one terrible mistake - she had an affair with her best friend Amy's husband. Barred from the afterlife until she makes amends, Lydia has been ordered back to Earth for one final mission: to find Amy a new husband. But there is just one small catch: Lydia must rely on her smarts rather than her centerfold body - because she has been reincarnated as a mangy stray dog! Although Lydia was always an expert matchmaker, she never had to play Cupid while trapped in the body of a furry mutt (Pembroke Welsh Corgi). But if she wants a chance to rest in peace, Lydia must figure out a way to find Amy the most handsome bachelor in town - and pray that woman's best friend can spot true love. A clean, fun romance with good, accurate doggy background and just a hint of mystery! Author: Emily Carmichael.

Lady Vanishes
Carol Lea Benjamin
Dash, Private Investigator Rachel Alexander's Pit Bull Terrier, is part of an investigative team, but he's also a Therapy Dog. But now Lady has vanished, and the owner of the home has been killed in a bizarre and mysterious hit and run accident. The situation is perfect for Rachel and Dash: she can find the answers with Dash's help, and he can bring a sense of calm and order to the residents. Fourth in the series.
Murder on the Iditarod Trail
Hammond

Sergeant Alex Jensen is determined to track down the murderer before more innocent blood stains the snow. But the hunt will lead the dedicated State Trooper into the frozen heart of the wild--where merciless nature can kill as fast as a bullet...and only the Arctic night can hear your final screams. Murder on the Yukon Quest
Henry
Jessie and her dog team are well prepared for the tough Yukon Quest sled race, but her one regret is that her longtime friend and lover, Alex Jensen, isn't there to see her off. Alex has been called home to Idaho for a family emergency and Jessie begins the big race without her biggest booster. Well along the trail, Jessie is stunned to learn that a young novice racer she met at the start has been abducted and held for ransom. The girl's distraught father has been warned that no one but Jessie Arnold is to be told - especially not the police. Feeling isolated and alone, Jessie must decide what to do in the face of terrible odds. As other mushers push on toward the finish line, Jessie forges ahead in a race all her own.
Ruffly Speaking
Susan Conant
They might be less famous than guide dogs for the blind, but hearing dogs are no less valuable to their owners. Holly Winter discovers this well-kept secret when she interviews Stephanie Benson, a hearing-impaired priest, and her canine companion, Ruffly. A hardworking, reliable mixed-breed, Ruffly lends an ear with ringing telephones, doorbells, smoke alarms, and the other everyday sounds on which Stephanie's livelihood - and life - depend. Ruffly and the rector have just moved into the house of Holly's recently deceased friend, Morris Lamb, whose life-loving and dog-adoring ways left no clue to his sudden and untimely death. Then Ruffly begins tuning in to something more than mere mortals can hear. And when Holly follows the dog's lead, she picks up the unmistakable sound...of murder.
Ten Little Bloodhounds
Virginia Lanier
In her latest case, Jo Beth Sidden is hired by a reclusive, wealthy island matriarch to find her lost cat. Meanwhile a full litter of ten baby bloodhounds is expected back at the kennel. This rare, difficult birth isn't just a matter close to Jo Beth's heart. It will also be a much-needed boon for her business. The quicker Jo Beth can solve this case, the sooner she can get home to her dogs and get her life in order. This Dog for Hire
Carol Lea Benjamin
Rachel Alexander is a private investigator with a pit bull partner named Dashiell. Asked to find the killer in a murder the police have written off as a gay bashing, and to find Magritte, a Basenji missing since his owner's murder, Rachel and Dash hit the New York streets during a freezing winter to begin their search. But after they find the missing dog, their problems only get worse, and at the Westminster Kennel Club show, Rachel becomes the next target of someone with too much to hide and no place to do it in!
Underdog
Berenson

So, with her rambunctious puppy, five-year-old son, and sexy fellow breeder Sam Driver in tow, she hits the championship circuit. In this dog-eat-dog world where winning is everything, Melanie discovers that more than one suspect had a bone to pick with the victim, including a kennel owner whose secret recipe for dog biscuits isn't the only thing she's guarding. Between laps around the show ring, Melanie learns some tricks of her own. But will she learn fast enough to collar an unleashed killed who's begging for the dogged detective to play dead?
Watchdog
Berenson

Worse, wealthy Marcus Rattigan, who's bankrolling the project, is found murdered on the premises, and the police think Frank did it.
